My Olaplex No.3 Beach Waves Hack

For those of you who don't know (and I'm sure if you have thick, damaged or unruly hair that number is zero), Olaplex is an amazing haircare range for conditioning and repairing damaged hair. It has a proprietary complex that repairs hair's broken bonds, and so far I haven't found anything else that measures up.

I'm sure Tina uses it too.

Now if I had all the money in the world, I'd invest in the whole Olaplex range. But right now I'm getting my best bang for my buck just using the No.3 leave in conditioner. You apply to towel-dried hair, and it says to leave it on for 10 minutes or longer. Then you rinse out and do your normal wash and shampoo. I just use the cheaper stuff hair and it works fine (shout-out to Garnier Naturals Deep Conditioner).

As I'm trying to eke every last benefit from my Olaplex, I thought I may as well try leaving it in longer. A lot longer. More is better, right? So started just leaving it in and sleeping in it till the morning. And I realised something - it actually makes amazing beachy waves with no effort at all. I've never been able to do this before without having a top layer of fluffy frizz.

Here's my results - apologies for the filter but it was first thing in the morning and it's lockdown so makeup wasn't on the agenda!

This is going to be my go-to style when summer arrives and I'm at the beach. Total easy care, no effort and your hair feels soft and amazing.

You can buy Olaplex online at Sephora but I'm trying to support local so I get it from my neighbourhood salon. It's around NZ$50 for quite a tiny bottle, and using it once a week it lasts me approx 2 months. I'm never going to stop using it!
